Starting Band​​

All sixth grade students participate in an elective rotation where they are able to experience various electives for nine weeks before rotating to another elective.  During the music portion, taught by Mr. Fields, each sixth grader will be introduced to band instrument and, through an instrument fitting process, will select their top two instruments.  Those students that want to take Beginning Band in seventh grade will then select BAND 1 as their FIRST CHOICE ELECTIVE on their course selection card.

Once school starts in the fall, information will be sent home concerning obtaining an instrument.  Many parents will opt to rent-to-own from our partner music store, Gadsden Music, and many will opt to use a school owned instrument.  Some instruments (French Horn, Euphonium, Tuba) are only available through the school.

The cost for Beginning Band is very low!  Examples of fees are:

• School Fee - $25/year

• School Owned Instruments - $50/year

• Gadsden Music Rent-to-Own - $45-$75/month based on instrument

• Instrument Accessories - Varies, but $5-$25 per item as needed
